MY 1977 TRANS AM.com

In 1977 Pontiac introduced the Trans Am Firebird with an all new redesigned front nose. That new look, coupled with it's debut in the motion picture "Smokey and the Bandit" starring Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed, Jackie Gleason and Sally Field, propelled the new Trans Am to record sales figures.

That figure was 68,744 to be exact. 1977 Trans Am sales jumped 22,040 units from 1976's  46,704 units sold.  It turned out to be the third biggest year ever for sales. First is 1979 with 116,535 units sold and second is 1978 with 93,351 units sold.  On an interesting note, Burt Reynolds was honored with a new Trans Am for life for his efforts in boosting sales of this fine machine. Way to go Burt!

Here are some exterior photos of my 1977 black Pontiac Trans Am. I tried to get some photos from all angles. I will upload more exterior pics as well as interior and engine photos as this website develops and as I take my Trans Am to more locations and car shows. I took a few front pics as well as some rear and side. A few obscure photos entered the mix as well as I was experimenting a little bit with angles. These were taken with an older Kodak DC260 digital camera. They turned out surprisingly well for a 1.3 megapixel camera. The lighting was good that day too I might add. After browsing these, head over to my Interior and Engine page and review those photos too.
